At Teachers College Innovations, a unit of Teachers College Columbia University, we believe that teachers are one of the most important factors in raising student achievement. Our goal is to support teachers as they enter the profession and throughout their careers with sustainable professional development models that incorporate the best that Teachers College Columbia University, has to offer to the educator.
Our Mission
Teachers College Innovations is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting equity and excellence in education and overcoming the gap in educational access and achievement by bringing high-quality professional development programs to teachers and educational leaders in the cities, states, districts and schools where they live and work.
A message from Ann Armstrong, President of TC Innovations: Research has shown that teachers can affect 3,000 students in their professional lifetime and teacher quality accounts for more than 90% of the variation in student achievement. However, up to 50% of teachers leave the profession within three to five years. This trend has led experts to predict the nation will need up to 2.4 million new teachers by 2010. In order to impact student achievement and create change in our schools we must keep new teachers in the profession and keep them teaching well.
TC Innovations has been extremely successful in supporting teachers as they enter the teaching profession by providing a variety of professional development programs that work to increase teacher retention rates, build teacher capacity and develop leadership within schools and school districts. TC Innovations' programs have reached thousands of teachers across the United States, and have significantly improved the retention rates of teachers. Retention rates have exceeded 90% in most districts using the program.
We are committed to this effort and hope that you will join us to ensure that no teacher or child is left behind.

Each year, thousands of idealistic women and men enter the teaching profession motivated by a desire to help children and by the belief that education is the best and most enduring road out of poverty. In 2001, Teachers College Columbia University established Teachers College Innovations to meet the needs of educators who are committed to transforming our schools, one classroom at a time.
Our professional development programs for educators address the challenges of recruitment, quality, and retention.
